Usually a much smaller one — typically a small utility connection fee plus your fixed solar payment instead of an unpredictable PG&E bill.
Is there still a federal tax credit?
The 30% credit for homeowners who buy their system (cash or loan) ended December 31, 2025. But there's still a path: with a lease or PPA, the system owner can claim the commercial credit (available through 2027) and pass those savings to you as a lower rate — often with $0 down and a bill lower than what you pay PG&E today.
